Here is a recipe that has chocolate and coffee, yum! This is a great dessert when you have guests. You can make it look a little fancy by sprinkling powdered sugar over it when the cake has completely cooled.
Flourless Chocolate Cake
8 oz dark chocolate, broken into pieces
(Tip: 1 cup cocoa powder + 1/2 cup vegetable oil = 8oz chocolate)
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1/2 cup strong coffee (espresso or instant is fine)
5 eggs, separated
2 tsp vanilla
(Tip: 1 cup cocoa powder + 1/2 cup vegetable oil = 8oz chocolate)
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1/2 cup strong coffee (espresso or instant is fine)
5 eggs, separated
2 tsp vanilla
Break up chocolate or mix up and melt with butter and 1/2 of sugar over double boiler. Add strong coffee and vanilla. Let cool slightly. Whip egg whites just before soft peaks form and add the rest of the sugar. Fold the egg yolks into the chocolate mixture. Add the meringue and fold together, do not over mix. Pour into a 10 inch spring form pan lined with foil. Rub inside of foil with butter.
Bake @ 350 for 1 hour or until cake is set.
